Check back throughout the year for pictures of what is happening in 1-O'C! September
We are having so much fun in 1st grade! We are learning lots of fun new math games and having a great time getting to know our new classmates! Our 4th grade buddies came to our room for our first meeting. We had fun learning about each other and can't wait to see more of them this year! October We're into our second month of 1st grade and still having a blast! We learned a new game called "Roll a Word" to practice our word wall words! The students had a great time with our Pumpkin Math activity and we appreciated all the help from parents the day of as well as sending in pumpkins for the activity! We used a lot of our math measuring skills to learn a lot about our pumpkin's weight, circumference, and the number of seeds. Our Halloween Party and Parade were great! Thanks to all those that helped to plan and make it such a success!! November
We're already well into our third month of 1st grade! Time is flying by! We've had fun learning and playing together! We're practicing telling time to the half-hour and used a round table cloth to help us make our own large clock! It was great to have so many parent visitors during American Education week to see all the learning that goes on in 1-O'C! Our 4th grade reading buddies came to our room this month to help us write acrostic poems about what we are thankful for! We love visiting with our buddies! We played a fun word wall game called Headbands, went on an action word hunt, and wore our pajamas to school! November was fantastic! December As 2012 comes to a close, we continue to work, learn, and play in room 2! We took turns acting out a play in our anthology! We have some great actors in our class! We've been doing a lot of measuring this month, too. First, we used our body parts to measure objects, but quickly realized that wasn't the most reliable way to measure. Now, we're using the standard foot and the inch as units of measurement. The day before winter break was definitely a fun one! We enjoyed a great Winter Party organized by our fabulous homeroom parents! Yummy snacks, a neat craft, a strenuous game of limbo, and great stories were enjoyed by all! January We've had a great start 2013! Our reading buddies came to our room to teach us about Martin Luther King Jr. and to help us think how we can change the world! The children created fantastic ramps and roadways in the gym to conclude our Balls and Ramps unit in science! Everyone worked hard to create some amazing roadways! February We started off February celebrating the 100th day of 1st grade! Some of us even dressed up as what we might look like at 100 years old! March
