Schoolhouse Rock Performs to benefit BLAST

Schoolhouse Rock

I wanted to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved with Monday's "Rockin' the Schoolhouse" performance at the Middle School (I apologize in advance if I forgot to mention someone).  It was a successful show, and all of the performers had a great time!  We collected 130 cans of food, a jar of peanut butter, a bottle of ketchup, seven packages of Ramen noodles, a box of spaghetti, and a box of linguine, all of which will be donated to Philabundance, thanks to Mike Stein of the BLAST committee. If you would like to donate goods to Philabundance, you can drop off canned goods at participating Starbucks locations or at one of Philabundance's Philadelphia locations.

Through ticket sales and donations, we raised $1,101 for the BLAST.

We're looking forward to next year's performance, which might be in February 2013.  If you've got an idea for next year, please email me.  The video for this year's performance will be on the cable access channels in the near future.

In particular, I would like to thank:

Mike Braverman of the middle school, who worked with us regarding the sound system and the space and who met with me on a Friday afternoon.

Nico Robben and Grace Sandusky of the middle school, who worked the sound system throughout the night and also met with me on a Friday afternoon.

Joan McCaul and Pat Cutillo for coordinating the use of the middle school auditorium.

Ed Croce and the rest of the maintenance staff for being so accommodating to our needs.

Eddie Jankins, Scott Halstead, and Nick Potts of the high school, who also worked the sound system throughout the night.

Jeff Nesbitt, Carol Restifo, and Brenda Lipscomb for their approval.

Jenn McNicholas, Mike Stein, and all of the BLAST committee members who supported our efforts.

Monica Lalor for her video expertise.

Betsy Barron of Betsy Barron Photography (http://www.thebetsy.com) for her amazing photographs.

Everyone who attended, everyone who donated money to the BLAST (I'm sure it's still taking donations), and everyone who donated canned goods.

In addition, I would like to thank those who volunteered to advertise the show, sell tickets, bring & move boxes around, and provide a presence at the show: Lisa Yacovelli, Megan McCormick, Nicole Battestelli, Denice Bohl, Lisa Christiano, Anne Leonard, Jeremy Tomaszewski

Last, but certainly not least, I'd like to thank THE PERFORMERS: Matthew Stewart, Keith Barnes, Mike Armine, David Calamaro (of Aquaport), Sarah Chaga, Joe Gallagher, Kirsten Montgomery, Steve Peterson, John Woodman (of Aquaport) and Kim Zeoli.

I am so proud to be a member of this amazing faculty and a member of this wonderful community of Havertown!

Sincerely, Jon Reiff
