About Chestnutwold
It is with
great pride
and much excitement that we welcome you to Chestnutwold School! We are pleased that you have chosen us
in the most important decision you will make: the
education of your child. You
will find us to be a very diligent, dedicated, and caring group of
professionals who take the greatest pleasure in watching and nurturing
growth
in children.
Chestnutwold School re-opened its doors to the students of Haverford Township in the fall of 2006. For 21 years, the former Chestnutwold
School was used by
various community groups after closing in 1985. The Board of School Directors made it a priority to
build a
new school in the Ardmore section of our Township. The students and staff selected the
colors of gold and blue
to represent us. These were the
colors of the original school.
They then selected the mythological Phoenix to be our mascot. If you are familiar with the story of
the Phoenix, you will know that the opening of our new school is similar
to the
rising of the Phoenix every 500 years.
We are a school anchored in the past, building on the strong
reputation
that our School District is known for, and educating a new generation of
learners for the future.
While we are pleased with the modern conveniences with which our new school was built, we ultimately know that it is just a building of brick and stone and siding. More important is the community that we build on the inside and the reputation we develop on the outside. The respect, care and kindness that are modeled between the adults of our community for our children will greatly influence Chestnutwold's reputation with our neighbors. This must be our measure of a successful school program!
On behalf of the Staff, Students, and Families, welcome to Chestnutwold School!
