On January 9th, The HHS Science Olympiad team competed in the 1st annual Battle at Valley Forge Invitational Tournament hosted by Conestoga High School. Dr. Alicia Peterson and alumnus Rachel Chang joined Coach Christine Dinger and Haverford’s two S. O. teams. The students competed in 23 building, lab, and study events. Ed Abrahams and Jon Friedman took 1st place in “Write It – Do It.” Builders Bharat Nagaswami and Joe Jang placed 2nd in “Egg-O-Naut.” Bharat and Joe also took 5th place in “Mousetrap Vehicle,” and their two “Elevated Bridges” won 3rd and 4th places for the two Haverford teams. Becky Bronstein and Jon Willis proved they were well studied when they took home 2nd place medals in “Ecology.” Christine Dinger says, “It was a great learning experience for all, and everyone seemed to have a very good time. I am privileged to work with such an enthusiastic group of students.” The team will be competing at the Tiger Invitational Tournament in Lehigh on February 6th.
