The spirit of giving....life lessons learned

Toys for TotsHaverford High School teacher Kim Reagoso knew the students in her Life Skills class wanted to share their holiday spirit with as many children as possible. So, the students decided to ask the faculty and staff members who were planning on donating to Toys for Tots if they would consider making a cash donation, and allowing them to pick out the toys. Toys for Tots is sponsored by the United States Marine Corp.

The generosity of Haverford’s faculty and staff made it possible for the class to purchase more than two dozen toys, dolls, games, and puzzles for children who are less fortunate than they are.  The shopping experience was invaluable. The pride on their faces as they made choices was priceless. Reagoso and her teacher assistants Margie Loftus and Linda Reicherter helped them figure out how many toys they would be able to purchase.  "Everyone benefits from this experience," Reagoso says. "The children who receive the toys, our students who benefited from the shopping spree and decision-making experience, and the teachers who couldn't be happier watching these special students enjoy this experience"
