The HIQ team was victorious in the Delco HI-Q match vs. Garnet Valley and Radnor and named the champions. This is the first time in 20 years that Haverford has taken the HI-Q crown. Delco Hi-Q is the oldest continuous academic quiz competition in the United States. The school celebrated with the band leading the team through the school where they were congratulated by the entire student body.
Best Buddies represented the HS in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Philadelphia and were featured on Fox29 News.
AP Art Show was held Saturday, March 18th. The event was a big success! Over 400 people attended and $1,400 was raised for the animals at Providence Animal Center.
Bye Bye Birdie will be performed at the HS on Friday: 3/31 at 7 PM, Saturday: 4/1 at 2 and 7 PM, Sunday: 4/2 at 2PM. The Science Olympiad team participated in the Southeastern Pennsylvania Regional competition and came in an overall 10th place out of 42 teams. The medal winning team out scored over 30 teams from the Southeastern Region of PA. All members of the team have been integral to Haverford's success this season.
HMS Latin students participated at the Philadelphia Classical Society Competition at the Baldwin School in late February. The first group of students created Roman cultural and historical projects, such as a topographical map of Roman expansion, the Pantheon, mosaics, and paintings, etc. Bella Monzo won a best in show for her portrait bust of Julius Caesar, this was in a group of 40 projects from students in grades 3rd-12th. A second group of students won academic awards for earning the top 5 test scores from a group of 105 Latin students here at HMS. Everyone will be awarded at Drexelbrook during a luncheon on Saturday, April 8th.
7th Heaven was invited by the Philadelphia Phillies to sing the National Anthem on April 9th's 1:35 game.
The Wizard of Oz will be performed on March 23, 24, 25 at 7:30PM and March 25th at 2:00PM
HMS Jazz Ensemble will perform at the PA Music Educators Association State Conference in Erie, PA in April - they were selected by audition from over 130 applicants.
A team representing Manoa Elementary School achieved Highest Honors in the recent WordMasters Challenge™—The fifth grade team scored an impressive 183 points out of a possible 200 in the second of three meets this year, placing seventh in the nation.
Lynnewood collected "Coins for Cancer" to donate to Alex’s Lemonade Stand.
Coopertown collected can tabs to be donated to the Ronald McDonald House of DE. The money received for recycling the tabs will provide for families with ill children.
